Taking Back the Dinner Table
Burgers, spaghetti, tacos, pizza, burgers, spaghetti, tacos – ENOUGH!
That was our typical dinner routine. It was becoming a predictable, lackluster chore that we only looked forward to because of hunger. At Diaper Dawgs, we’re all about helping you clean crap in a snap. But that’s not only with cloth diapers, but cleaning up your mindset, your home, and even your diet as quickly and conveniently as possible. After seeing ad after ad on my Facebook newsfeed, I finally decided to give a meal subscription service a go. Eating healthy gourmet meals in 30 minutes with all the grocery shopping and measuring done for me? Yes, please! But I was never the one for spontaneity. Oh no, I’m a logical buyer (as opposed to emotional) so I had to properly vet and research my meal service choice.
”You can get a box for just about anything: haircare, snacks, toys, menstrual products, even socks.”
The box subscription service industry as a whole has blown up in the past few years. You can get a box for just about anything: haircare, snacks, toys, menstrual products, and socks. Yep, there’s a monthly subscription box for socks. I decided to compare the four most popular dinner subscriptions: Blue Apron, Plated, HelloFresh, and HomeChef.
All brands were basically around the same price, about $9.95-14.95 per serving. Blue Apron even had wine and dessert options, but there was one clear winner: HomeChef. Why? Well even though I’m open to trying new gourmet foods, I wasn’t that open to weird crap like “Spiced Pork, Squash, and White Bean Soup with Lacinato Kale & Sage-Walnut Pesto,” or even “Tartines with Squash, Ricotta, Sage, and Apple Salad.” My family are typical American-style eaters, and this stuff was just too much out of our comfort zone.
Enter Home Chef.

Filet Mignon with Sauce Bordelaise, Farmhouse Fried Chicken, Flat Iron Steak with Bleu Cheese Butter…oh yes please! The meals looked approachable and added new flavors and ingredients that didn’t make us feel skeptical about the taste because there’s no awful feeling like blowing money on a nasty dinner that you can’t send it back to the kitchen!
Our chefs shop for you and plan your meals, allowing you to choose from a new menu every week. We offer a meal delivery service that includes all of the fresh ingredients and instructions needed to cook restaurant quality meals for 2, 4 or 6 people in the comfort of your own kitchen. We eliminate recipe and food hunting by sending you a flavor packed kit along with easy-to-follow, step-by-step instructions, turning you into a top chef.

So far, my husband and I have discovered a love for bleu cheese, artichokes, and brussel sprouts as well as learned new styles of cooking. We look forward to dinner now, not just from a mouth-watering hunger standpoint but cooking with Home Chef gives us a boost of culinary confidence.
The portions make us feel satisfied in lieu of that previously bloated, “ate too much” feeling. It’s like being on a delicious portion-controlled diet. And with exact ingredient measurements, leftovers are extremely uncommon.
While HomeChef may not be ideal for large families budget-wise, it’s certainly a special treat for couples or families where the littles aren’t eating what the grownups are just yet. We get our packages three times a week, and it’s definitely a special treat unboxing that week’s meals.
All in all, I HIGHLY recommend Home Chef. The meals are gourmet, yet not too gourmet, and delicioso! The recipe cards even come with punch holes to place in a binder. The boxes have definitely inspired me to gourmetize << new word>> our regular meals in between Home Chef meals. Just the other day, I made a cilantro lime garlic butter to top over some steaks…any other day would have just been a bottle of A1 sauce 😛

Down the line I hope they launch some wine pairings, some quick sandwich/soup options for lunch and maybe a few dessert options. A box of meals would make a SUPERB gift for new parents during their first week with the baby. But all in all, thank you Home Chef for helping me take back my dinner table! #bossdinnerlady
Now I’m actually a weekly paying customer, but I love the dinners so much, I’d be nuts if I didn’t want to earn some freebies. I totally stand by the deliciousness of these meals, and I can guarantee you these aren’t crap! Clicking the invite below will give you AND me three plates for free!!!
Here’s an invite to HomeChef from me to you…
